BALTIMORE, MD (July 29, 2019) — On Wednesday, July 31, Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott will deliver a policy proposal to his colleagues on the City Council and other officials. The proposal will focus on actions he and the body can take over the next year and a half.

The event will take place on Wednesday at 10AM at City Hall. Individuals interested in the proposal can join the event via livestream on CharmTV or the Council President's Facebook page. Those tuning in are encouraged to use the hashtag #BaltimoreCanBmore with their reactions.

“We hear over and over again that people feel disconnected from their government and don’t feel like they get the service they deserve,” said Council President Scott. “As Council President, I want to focus the City Council’s work over the next year and a half  to deliver for Baltimore’s residents and bring greater transparency to the way we operate.”

The Council President's proposal centers on four main categories: transparency and accountability ("Cleaning up city government"), public safety and economic development ("Safer, stronger communities"), youth education and opportunity ("Investing in youth, investing in our future"), and equity ("Bringing an equity framework to governance").

Over the month of August, Council President Scott will take his legislative proposal out of City Hall and into neighborhoods across Baltimore. The goal of these community forums is to solicit feedback from residents on the City Council's priorities through the end of 2020. Dates, times, and locations will be announced on July 31.

“Policy impacts people, so people should impact policy,” said Caylin Young, Director of Legislative Affairs for the Office of the City Council President. “That’s the goal.”

Council President Scott and his legislative team are seeking to incorporate feedback and new ideas from Baltimore's residents at each of the events.

The Council President's proposal; dates, times, and locations for community forums; and information about submitting feedback will be available on baltimorecitycouncil.com after the event on Wednesday, July 31.
